Langkawi is situated off the coast of Penang and is one of the most beautiful places to explore when in Malaysia. The beaches here are a die for! Life here goes on at a slower pace than life in other parts of Malaysia which makes it a perfect holiday destination. Here are a few things worth discovering on your visit here.
Eagle Square
Known as Dataran Lang in the local language (Malay), the massive statue reaches a height of about 12 metres. This attraction is located in Kuah and is one of the most iconic places to visit. There are a few lovely fountains, bridges and a few eateries close by as well.
Galeria Perdana
This museum was instituted by one of Malaysia’s former prime ministers, Dr Mahatir Mohamad. The items on display here are mostly gifts received by the former prime minister during his time in office from former heads of state. The hand-painted ceiling at the museum takes the limelight.
Mahsuri Tomb and Museum
Situated close to a number of Langkawi resorts, over this museum looms the legend of a beautiful lady called Mahsuri. Many were jealous of her beauty and she was ultimately sentenced to death. It was believed that the island of Langkawi was cursed for 7 generations ever since.
Air Hangat Village
If you are accommodated at hotels like Berjaya Langkawi Resort, the spa is a good option for some relaxation. However, the hot springs at Air Hangat Village offer a different experience. Stay close to nature while you unwind here.
