Sri Lanka is an island with sea brimming around and is often celebrated across the world for its beaches. The beaches in the North and East of the island could be considered less explored compared to the others. Therefore if you plan to head to the East of the island then a travel to Pasikuda is highly recommended. One thing that has been quite the struggle is travelling towards the East of the country generally consumes a lot of time, however, there are now options such as domestic flights to get you there in no time such as the one by Cinnamon Air.
Pasikuda’s beach was regarded as one of the best-kept secrets of Sri Lanka, however, today there are hotels popping up and tourists have begun to make their way here. The sands are perfect to just lie around and soak in the tropical sun. The East is a perfect place to catch the sunrise and one could enjoy the panoramic sunrise views from the beach. The beach is also one of the safest in the island and is perfect for sea swims. One can actually walk into the calm seas for several hundred meters. The closest town to Pasikuda is Batticaloa and is an important commercial hub in the East. There are several resorts that have come up in the area and they offer water based activities such as jet skiing and banana boat trips. Pasikuda beach is great for people who don’t want to be in a busy resort environment but want to disconnect from the cities and relax. There is also the Kalkuda beach which again is great for swims as one of the bombings during the civil war made the area shallow. Today several locals, as well as tourists, come down here to enjoy the warm waters.
