Located in the north-western area of Penang Island, Batu Ferringhi Beach is a stretch of white sandy shore packed with water and land-based activities. This 3km-long beach is the second most visited place in Penang after Georgetown.

How to get there
If you are arriving at Penang’s airport, the beach is only 30km away. You can take a bus operated by Rapid Penang or a taxi to reach the beach.
Accommodation
Many luxury resorts operated by international hotel chains can be found near Batu Ferringhi Beach. Mid-to-low range accommodation such as budget hostels, guesthouses, and serviced residences are also on offer, located within the vicinity of the beach. Alternatively, serviced apartments in Bukit Mertajam, the likes of Sky Residence Prai, are also available.
Activities
The beach is a hive of activity. Many companies along the shoreline offer water sports facilities such as jet skiing and parasailing. Jet ski hires can last from 15 to 60 minutes. You can also ride a beach buggy or go horse riding. The main road near the beach has a few establishments offering fish spas and foot reflexology services. At night, the pavement along Jalan Batu Ferringhi transforms into a lively arts and crafts market.
Things to know
Batu Ferringhi Beach is perfect for strolls, water sports, and sand-filled fun. However, it is not ideal for swimming. This is because the water near the shore is unclean and teeming with swarms of jellyfish.
