As the name suggests, these are bungalows that have been built over the water, but rather close to the shores. This way guests can reach the main resort building easily.
The history
Where did overwater bungalows or villas first appear? The answer would be in French Polynesia back in the 1960s. The idea then spread faster and reached the east where 5 star hotels in Maldives have now adapted this as well.
Are they safe

The amenities
On the outside, overwater bungalows may look quite rustic, but walk inside and you’ll find luxuries like no other. It definitely does not come cheap either!
