The Bentota Beach is about 64 km away from Colombo closer to Kalutara. It is a famous beach that is home to many resorts and where you can find some of the most picturesque beaches in Sri Lanka.

Beruwala Beach
The Beruwala beach is one of these, which is closer towards Aluthgama. It is a small and safe beach that is popular among families thanks to the protective barrier that is the reef.
Bentota Beach
Bentota Beach is perfect for water sports as well as being aesthetically pleasing. There are plenty of luxury hotels in Sri Lanka that are spread across the vicinity of Bentota. If you time your visit during the season of October to April when the waves are just perfect for jet skiing, windsurfing and water-skiing.
Underwater Dives
Scuba diving, snorkelling is also great fun during the season because the sea is calmer, and it makes it safe for swimming. You can even rent equipment and get basic trailing thanks to local diving schools. Some hotels like Saman Villas will arrange it for you.
Tradition and Culture
Even if you are not headed to Bentota for the beaches, you will find plenty to do in terms of Sri Lankan culture from exploring the Brief Gardens to shopping for souvenirs to going turtle watching. The possibilities are endless.
