Overview
Bentota beach is a part of a quaint little town known by the same name and it is located in the south-western region of Sri Lanka. The beach features a lively environment with glimpses of the local life. The beach is fringed in coconut palms and it is ideal to bask under the warmth of the tropical sun. The beach is also popular for activities such as snorkelling, diving and surfing.
Getting there
The coastal town is located right between Galle and Colombo and it is accessible by train, bus, and taxi. Getting here by train is the most exciting thing to do and if you are planning to do so, you will have to get down at Aluthgama and grab a tuk-tuk or hop on to a bus to reach Bentota which is 2.5 kilometres away from Aluthgama

Things to remember
Though visiting the beach is entirely safe, there are few things you should have in mind when you are here. Make sure you do not venture alone into the waters and stay close to your friend or other tourists at all times. Also, do not touch the marine creatures that live around the beach. They might harm you or you could inflict damages which is not a pleasant thing. The sun could be unforgiving at times so make sure that you wear sun cream which is at least SPF 50. If you are visiting here with you children do not let them venture alone, keep them close to you.
