Unawatuna Beach
Nestled along the south coast, Unawatuna Beach is an idyllic spot to visit on your tour. Sri Lanka is home to such golden shorelines where you can also enjoy swimming in the ocean and cocktails from nearby bars. From this beach, you can access the Japanese Peace Pagoda on top of a hill set amidst stunning panoramas.
Kalpitiya Beach
Kalpitiya Beach can be found on the northwestern shoreline and has become a hotspot for kitesurfing and snorkelling too. “Safe & Secure” certified tour operators such as Walkers Tours include this area on beach tours where you can also look forward to dolphin and whale watching (November to April) as well.
Pasikudah Beach
Along the east coast, you will find Pasikudah Beach known for its protected bay; the waters are relatively calm and shallow making it perfect for swimming and family fun. It’s an ideal place to catch a sunrise, while you can witness coral and marine life when snorkelling or explore sunken wrecks on diving excursions.
Arugam Bay Beach
This beach has gained renown for offering some of the best surfing waves in the world. The surf season runs from around May to November and Main Point, Whiskey Point and Pottuvil Point are amongst the key surfing spots. At other times of the year, this is still an ideal beach to visit for laidback coastal relaxation.
