One of the most popular Sri Lankan sites on Instagram, the Coconut Tree Hill in Mirissa has become a hotspot for locals and tourists alike and is well worth a visit when on the island.
Getting to Mirissa
Tucked away along Sri Lanka’s south coast is the idyllic town of Mirissa. Hotels can be easily found near the main beach which is an attraction in itself. Located around 150 km from Colombo, the town can be reached via the Southern Expressway or by train.
Reaching Coconut Tree Hill
Coconut Tree Hill is located around a five-minute drive from Sri Sharavi Beach Villas & Spa and can be easily accessed either via the Bandaramulla Temple or from Mirissa Beach. From the beach, this hill is about a 10 to 15-minute walk away and lets you truly soak up the enchanting coastal atmosphere too.
What to Expect
As you may have guessed, the name of this attraction pretty much describes what to expect; a hill with coconut trees! Of course, it’s so much more than that; overlooking the ocean, this site has many picturesque palm trees which provide the perfect backdrop for some magical pictures and selfies. Tip; do look to get there early to avoid the crowds.
Another Noteworthy Viewpoint
You can also make time to visit nearby Parrot Rock which provides more scenic panoramas. This viewpoint can be accessed via Mirissa Beach too and provides stunning vistas of the shoreline and even views of Coconut Tree Hill!
