The coastal town of Port Douglas has a lot to offer in terms of coastal beauty and aadventure. There are also a number of heritage sites to explore within and around the town.
The Four Mile Beach
There are many beaches around Port Douglas, but this is widely considered as the premier sandy retreat. The beach begins towards the rocky headland of the north and stretches for, you guessed it, four miles without any construction blemishing the natural splendour. There are however some nearby hotels Port Douglas has to offer such as Oaks Lagoons.
Restaurants
There are many eateries around this beach where you can enjoy a range of dishes from a wide range of cuisines. If you wish to enjoy a drink the coast there are many bistros and bars to choose from as well. Australia is generally considered a foodie’s haven, so expect gastronomic bliss.
Scuba Diving and Snorkelling
Since the beach is incredibly close to the Great Barrier Reef one can gain some incredible snorkelling and scuba diving experiences. There are many entities that will take you on an expedition to explore the reef and the nearby sites.
Dickson Inlet
Situated towards one side along the curve of Four Mile Beach, this little inlet with its protected harbour and marina provides a great place to take a casual swim.
