Diving in Praslin Seychelles is probably one of the most exciting activities to partake in when you’re on holiday. Plunge through the enticing deep blue waters of the Indian Ocean and explore the diverse range of marine life that’s found here. Complete with ship wrecks, drop offs, canyons, pinnacles and colourful reefs, there is much to discover during your diving trip. In Seychelles, resorts usually offer diving expeditions to their guests and many dives sites with a depth of 20 metres are usually located around Berjaya Praslin Resort.
Around Praslin, however there are dive sites which range from 8m to 30 m and serve as a great experience for both beginners and experienced divers. The ideal times to dive are between the months of March to May and from September to November, this is when the waters are usually at its calmest. Visibility during these months are said to be at their clearest and you can see up to a depth of 30 metres with water temperatures only reaching up to 29 degrees Celsius. The calm waters also means that dive boats can reach some remote diving sites that are known to be home to the large types of marine life such as manta rays and sharks.
The south east monsoon begins from the month of June and lasts till August, this is when there are strong winds and rougher seas, making it quite hard to reach some remote diving sites. However, with the slight drop in water temperatures, there is also an increase in the number of rich plankton in the waters, which are whale sharks usually feed on. Whale sharks can grow up to the length of 10 metres and dive shops in the area usually provide a specific dive program for those to snorkel or dive along these magnificent beauties of the sea.
Some of the other common marine life you’ll be able to see are angelfish, butterflyfish, mantis shrimp, reef sharks, green turtles, hawksbill turtles, lionfish, octopus and stingrays.
