Getting There
Kalutara is around 43 km from the commercial capital, Colombo, and can be easily reached by car, bus or train. Located around a 10-minute drive from Mermaid Hotel & Club, Calido Beach is also close to a Buddhist temple known as Gangarama Viharaya.
What to Expect
One of the joys of staying at beach hotels in Sri Lanka is the chance to spend time soaking up the sun and watching the waves roll by; that’s exactly what you can do at Calido Beach! It lies between the ocean and the Kalu Ganga (river) estuary and while here, you may see fishermen returning with their catch, while the evening is an ideal time to witness a glorious sunset.

While this may not be your typical activity-filled beach, you can still look forward to relaxing on the shore, building sandcastles with the kids and depending on the wind conditions, even flying kites. Though you may be tempted to go swimming, do exercise caution since the waves can be rough especially from May to September.
