Negombo was considered the first seaside resort in Sri Lanka. it is approximately 15 km away from the airport, so you can book into Negombo at the end of the tour and head straight to the airport once you are done. Historical Places
Negombo had a lot of colonial influence which is still evident from the Portuguese street names and surnames of people in the area. One of these areas of note is the Negombo Fort which was established by the Portuguese and taken over by the Dutch. Today it is used as a prison so while you cannot explore the interior you should explore it if you’ve got the chance. Also, the Dutch cemetery.
Water-skiing and Wakeboarding
There are plenty of places in Negombo if you want to engage in water sports. Most recommended would be water-skiing and wakeboarding. There’s always time for some adventure.
