Seychelles is an Indian Ocean archipelago of 115 islands off the coast of East Africa and is a tropical paradise of pristine beaches, lush vegetation and coral reefs of unimaginable beauty. The scuba and snorkelling sites of Praslin are very much in demand and are quite easily accessible. Shark Rock south of Praslin is a good dive site with a depth of 10 – 18 meters. The bottom is of granite and hard coral reef and under the big boulder at the centre docile nurse sharks can be found. Black snappers, Napoleon Wrasses and even mating squid are to be seen at this dive site. Pate Anse Kerlan North West off Praslin is another enjoyable diving experience. With a depth of 8-14 meters and a bottom formed of granite and hard coral reef. This area teems with schooling fusiliers and Jack fish. Hawksbill turtles frequent here while big grouper and octopus are found in the nooks and crannies of this place. Round Island, East of Praslin has a depth of 10-26 meters with a bottom of granite and hard coral. This ridge of granite and hard coral is an extension of the southern tip of La Digue and it is home to gray reef sharks and other large pelagic. The constant currents here make this an excellent site for drift dives.
Most of the snorkelling sites are on the north side of Praslin.
Anze Lazio waters are calm, protected by a coral reef and has an ideal gradient which makes for good swimming and snorkelling. At one end of the beach is excellent snorkelling and the beauty of the underwater world makes every effort worthwhile. Anse La Blague is a large cove on north Praslin. At the end of a strip of white sand there is deeper water and the coral reef extends on both sides. It also has a teeming underwater life.
Praslin is certainly a place for great dives and snorkelling.
