Snapper Rocks
A favourite of legendary surfer, Kelly Slater, Snapper Rocks draws experienced surfers from around the world. Easy to reach from hotels in Gold Coast Qld, this spot features consistent barrels and what is called the Superbank. Pros can look to tackle the right-hand point break which can offer heavy, hollow barrels.
Kurrawa Beach
Those looking for laid-back surfing fun or just want to get the hang of this water sport will love Kurrawa Beach in Broadbeach. Located close to Oaks Gold Coast Hotel, this idyllic golden shoreline has some great breaks and swells and is home to several surfing schools as well as the Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club.
Burleigh Heads
More experienced surfers will relish the challenges that await at Burleigh Heads with its famous “Burleigh barrel”. This spot offers some of the Gold Coast’s most consistent waves and is known for a right-hand point break as well as hollow barrels that break over the sand and which are quite fast too.
Rainbow Bay
Intermediate and novice surfers can head to Rainbow Bay which features one of the world’s longest right-handers. Home to a sheltered swimming area and a lovely beach that is patrolled throughout the year, it is a great spot for families to learn to surf too.
