Visitors can observe 4 –day old baby turtles who are kept there to increase their chances of survival and build up their strength. Other points of interest would be the secure land where turtle eggs have been reburied for safety reasons and several other tanks containing different species of fully grown species including a rare albino one.

Apart from learning about more information about turtles, the conservation has under its protection, visitors can take part in releasing the 4-day old baby turtles into the sea at an added cost. This usually takes place in the evenings and it would be best to pre-arrange the timing of your visit to coincide with the activity.

The conservatory is located at No. 13A Galle Road, Mahapelena, Kosgoda and can be easily reached from many hotels in Galle including the likes of The Fortress Resort and Spa with minimum hassle.

The hatchery is open daily till 5.00 p.m. in the evening and entrance fee is LKR.500. Visitors can spend around 30 minutes to 1 hour wandering around the facility while learning more about turtles such as their hatching process and life cycles.
